Rose Planting

Yesterday the second lot of roses were planted! They arrive in bare root form (no soil, just literally some stems and bare roots) so need a good soak before planting out. I prepped the bed a couple of months ago with plenty of well-rotted manure, courtesy of the lovely moo cows, and then added a generous dose of micchorizal fungi to each hole before healing the plants in well. I planted them roughly 30cm apart to encourage the plants to grow up with the intention of producing longer stems for cutting purposes. I have chosen varieties that I hope will be beautiful and scented, useful for occasions such as weddings and also mix well with the other flowers that I plan to be growing in the patch next summer. Can’t wait to see how they do…….
