January has been all about planning here at Chapel Farm Flowers. This will be our first year of growing cut flowers in any quantity within our newly created and dedicated cut flower patch on the farm. Many hours have been spent looking at seed catalogues and websites, ordering seeds and dahlia tubers, compiling a successional sowing schedule and thinking out where all the plants might actually get planted within the patch. It’s also been a month of waiting to see whether the daffs, narcissi, tulips and other bulbs planted back in the Autumn will sprout. Thankfully they’re all coming along nicely. Oh and the bare root roses also planted back in the Autumn are all sprouting too. Here’s to Spring and lots of seed sowing in the coming months.
